Chiara Zannini is an Italian political scientist specialised on China, a country where she has lived for nearly two years. She holds a BA and an MA degree in Chinese Studies from Bologna University, and an MSc In Chinese Politics from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. She has been awarded a scholarship from Hanban, thanks to which she spent one year at Beijing’s Renmin University. Chiara has worked at the European Institute for Asian Studies (EIAS) as a researcher first, and then as Programme Coordinator, focusing especially on EU-China relations. She has left her role at EIAS in September 2014 but still cooperates with it as an Associate. Chiara has also worked at the European Commission’s Directorate General for Development and Cooperation in the field on International Development Dialogue between the EU and Asian countries. At the Commission she mainly functioned as an analyst and consultant on China. At Polint she supports with research and coordination the company’s ongoing projects, with a special focus on China and North Korea, especially in the field of people-to-people and cultural relations. She is also among the co-founders of Track2Asia and she is Director of Content at the Brussels chapter of Young China Watchers.
Chiara speaks Italian, English, Chinese, French, Spanish and is learning Dutch.
